At Home in His Love
“As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.”
Watch & listen to today's devotional
Beloved, before you face the demands of this day, pause and hear the tenderness of Jesus: “As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you.” What a precious assurance! His love is not a small kindness offered from a distance. He welcomes you into a close, continuing relationship with Him. You do not have to begin this morning wondering whether you matter to the Lord. Let His words settle your heart: you are loved by the One who gave Himself for you.
Jesus also says, “Continue ye in my love.” To abide is to remain, to make your home in His presence rather than visit only when trouble comes. We do this by receiving His Word, speaking honestly with Him in prayer, and keeping His commandments. Obedience does not purchase His affection; it is our loving response to the love He has already shown. Just as Jesus obeyed His Father and remained in His love, we are called to walk closely with our Saviour. His commands teach us how to live within the goodness of that relationship.
Today, abiding may look wonderfully ordinary: refusing a harsh reply, forgiving an offense, or making time for someone who feels forgotten. When you stumble, do not hide from Jesus. Confess your sin and return to Him, trusting His mercy. His invitation is still to remain. Dear Word of God Community, let us carry this assurance into every conversation and responsibility: we are deeply loved, and through Christ we can love others faithfully.
Remain Close to Jesus
Where are you tempted to move through today without depending on Jesus? Pause there, remember His love, and ask what obedience to His Word would look like in that moment.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for loving us and drawing us near through Your Son. Quiet the fears that make us feel forgotten or unworthy of Your care. Teach us to remain in the love of Jesus, receiving His Word and responding with willing hearts. Forgive us when we wander, and help us turn back without hiding. Make our words gentle, our forgiveness sincere, and our service generous. Bless every member of The Word of God Community, and let someone experience Your kindness through us today. We ask these things in the name of Jesus. Amen.
