The Love That Holds a Community Together
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples.”
Jesus did not say the world would know us by our buildings, our programs, or even our doctrine alone. He said they would know us by our love. In the Word of God Community, love is not a sentiment — it is the assignment.
Love in community looks like checking on the sister who has been quiet. It looks like forgiving the brother who wounded you, praying for the family down the street, and showing up when it is inconvenient. Real community is built in these small, costly acts of love.
Ask the Lord today: who needs to experience Your love through me this week? Then move toward them. The gospel travels fastest along the road of genuine love.
Prayer
Father, fill our community with the love of Christ. Teach us to bear with one another, forgive one another, and carry one another's burdens. Let our love be so real that the world sees Jesus in us. In Jesus' name, amen.
